Woman Has Beautiful Experience On Ayahuasca, But It Was Actually Salmonella

Tulsa, OK – Jane Harmon was at first nervous to try the psychedelic Peruvian brew known as ayahuasca, but she was at a crossroads in her life and desired insight.

Believing the intense purging she underwent during her ayahuasca session – excessive vomiting, diarrhea, hot/cold flashes, nausea, intense sweating, and a fever of 103 – to be all part of the plant’s effects, she described the experience to her co-ayahuasca participants as beautiful and life affirming.

As it turns out she had only drank a cup of Smooth Moves tea and ate a piece of bad chicken, according to the shaman that ran the session.

“We ran out of ayahuasca but didn’t tell everyone. I knew Jane was really down about life so we gave her some chicken that wasn’t cooked all the way and some stool softener,” said Shaman Gomez, “I’m happy she got something out of it. I wish she didn’t have so much diarrhea, but she said that was the best part.”

Known to bring spiritual revelations, ayahuasca is said to reveal the true nature of the universe. Vomiting, diarrhea, and hot/cold flashes are an initial part of the experience, which is the body’s way of purging the negative energy before bringing the individual the positive life epiphany they seek. In Harmon’s case she only experienced the purging without the insight, but Harmon insists she had epiphanies.

“When the diarrhea was streaming out of me I realized how to live and where I had gone wrong,” says Harmon. “Though my epiphanies mainly had to do with no longer eating chicken, I don’t think it has to do with what Shaman Gomez told me. Bad chicken or not, I saw something. I did ayahuasca and I gained insight.”

“She definitely didn’t,” says Gomez. “She had Smooth Moves tea and bad chicken. I know, because I cooked – or didn’t cook I should say – the chicken myself.”
