Peoria, IL – Friends and family of Kathleen Donaldson know her as someone who is always there for you and won’t hesitate to rush to your aid. The same empathy that has earned her a stellar reputation is also killing all the joy in her life.
She’ll drive you to the airport, console you during a break up, visit you in the hospital, and listen to you complain about your job. She is loved by all who know her, and unfortunately she can’t remember the last time she had fun.
“I’m not enjoying this life of mine,” she told Egobaby. “I like helping people, but I’ve found myself surrounded by terrible soul-sucking people. Whoever said you need to give love to get love must have had different friends.”
Donaldson’s friend, Joe, said, “Kathleen seemed fine the last time I saw her. She met me for coffee because I’ve been so down about my career. Just not where I want to be. I’m not sure what direction to go in. I’m afraid of success. I feel like life is passing me by. Sometimes I think I should give up. Maybe I’m not as talented as I think I am. Maybe it would be easier to live in the country somewhere and sell milk or something. Anyway, I’m sure Kathleen’s fine, I never worry about her.”
We heard similar reports from other people in Donaldson’s life. When we asked Kathleen’s mother if her daughter was enjoying her life she asked us if we could ask Kathleen to call her because she needs her to do something.
Kathleen was hard to pin down for this article. She had a lot of social and familial responsibilities to meet. To be honest, we kind of felt let down by her so we let her know. She apologized and said she empathized with us. We could tell she was affected by our disappointment and that helped a little.
