West Linn, OR – Jim Kable joined the Hare Krishnas about a year ago. At the beginning he enjoyed the sense of community the group offered, he liked the chanting and the drums, and not having to think about his hair style was an added plus.

“But I keep wondering if maybe I rushed into this,” Kable told Egobaby. “Maybe there’s a way to pursue my spirituality and still have sex. When my brothers are chanting ‘hare krishna’ I’m chanting in my head, ‘I’m bald and I gave up sex’.”

Kable says it’s right before he falls asleep these days when his mind wonders for him why he’s putting himself through this. “I ran into a fellow devotee the other day in the hallway and he said ‘Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!’ to me and I thought, ‘Uh oh, I’ve made a huge mistake.”
